National and State Resources for Your Well-Being

There are local, state, and national resources available to help you or a friend who needs help. This is a brief listing of national and state resources. I wanted to include multiple hotlines so that you can choose the one you feel most comfortable calling.

This is your time to reach out and call for help to be safe.

211 is a confidential resource for help in any situation.
People will call 211 because it is neutral and anonymous and does not require people to call themselves homeless, abused, elderly, mentally ill, or other “labels.” It is available in all states and Puerto Rico. However, Illinois, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Georgia have areas that do not have access to some services/resources. Still, the 211 is a nationwide resource and can direct you to an area that does have resources.

National Suicide Prevention is available 24 hours per day toll free, confidential to anyone in suicidal crisis for emotional distress. By dialing
1 (800) 273-8255, The call is routed to the nearest crisis center in its national network of more than 150 crisis centers.

This service is also available in Spanish 1 (888) 628-9454

And is available for the Deaf 1 (800) 799-4889 (TTY).

The National Child Abuse Hotline is dedicated to the prevention of child abuse. Serving the United States, its territories and Canada, the Hotline
1 (800) 4-A-CHILD is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with professional crisis counselors who through interpreters can provide assistance in 170 languages. The Hotline offers crisis intervention, information, literature, and referrals to thousands of emergency, social service and support resources. All calls are confidential.

National Sexual Assault Hotlines Reaching out for help is often the first step in healing. Rape Abuse Incest National Network (RAINN) provides support for sexual assault victims and their loved ones through two Hotlines:

o online.rainn.org
Whether you are more comfortable on the telephone or on-line, RAINN has services to guide you in your recovery.

National Runaway Safeline Switchboard : 1 (800) 551-1300

Children of the Night assist children who are forced to prostitute for food and shelter. The 24-hour nationwide toll-free hotline is 1 (800) 551-1300 

National Safe Place is a national youth outreach and prevention program for young people under the age of 18 (up to 21 years of age in some communities) in need of immediate help and safety. As a collaborative community prevention initiative, Safe Place designates businesses and organizations as Safe Place locations, making help readily available to youth in communities across the country. Safe Place locations include libraries, YMCAs, fire stations, public buses, various businesses, and social service facilities.
Along with accessing Safe Place in person, youth may also TXT 4 HELP to receive information about the closest Safe Place location and chat with a professional for more help. TXT 4 HELP is a nationwide, 24-hour text-for-support service for youth in crisis. When a young person uses TXT 4 HELP, they will text SAFE and their current location (address, city, state) to 4HELP (44357) for immediate help.

National Teen Dating Hotline is a 24-hour hotline for teens and young adults: 1 (866) 331-9474     1 (866) 331-8453 (TTY)

National Domestic Violence Hotline: The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides support, resources, and advice for your safety.

Free confidential support dedicated to serving Native American and Alaskan Native survivors and concerned family members affected by domestic, dating, and sexual violence. Advocates are available 24/7 by texting or calling.
